Pioneer Rekordbox 4.1 is a new update to the Pioneer Rekordbox DJ was released recently with one big difference - The DVS capability. This was the natural progression in the story of Rekordbox DJ if they wanted to compete with the 'Big two' (Traktor & Serato, if you looked puzzled when reading that).
- Absolute Mode: Copies the experience of traditional vinyl
- Relative Mode: Gives you digital features such as Hot Cues and Sync, and scratch freely – regardless of where the needle is on the Control Vinyl. Plus you can use rekordbox MIDI Learn to assign features to your controller for even more flexibility.
Again, like other DVS producers, you can use time-coded vinyl or cds, which are priced there or thereabouts in line with the rest.
One good things to mention, is that with the Pioneer DDJ-RZ controller, it now comes with a bundle that includes Rekordbox DJ and also the DVS Pack as well. If you have already bought one, you can get the code from their website.
Like all new ventures, some people are still a little sceptical about this, but when you think about it, why would you be? Its not as if a two-bit company fancy a piece of the pie, its Pioneer... This certainly will be making its way into many DJ booths in the very near future.
