It is a testament to the brand’s stellar craftsmanship that they have made such an impact on the headphones market in such a little time. Military Grade Construction
There are not that many parallels between the world of warfare and the DJ world (maybe), but V-Moda have somehow managed to combine the two. V-Moda claims that their Steelflex headband is ‘virtually indestructible’ which is quite the boast. We’re not sure how they plan on testing this, perhaps by running over the model with a tank or something equally extreme, but it is evident that the casing of these headphones is remarkably durable. Its casing is crafted from an Exoskeleton that perfectly fits the form. In yet another dramatic claim, V-Moda insist that its cable and 45-degree plug can bend over one million times which is 100 times more than the industry standard. The headband is also crafted from Steelflex and it is claimed that it can bend ten times flat. Not only this, the design is adapted to withstand extremes in temperature and weather, such as high and low temperatures, humidity, salt spray and UV exposure. Whatever you get up to wearing these headphones, you can be assured that the model will resiliently withstand the most raucous club night and the most intense outdoor exercise session.
Edgy Aesthetic
There is no doubt that these headphones showcase a high-octane and sophisticated aesthetic, that immediately sets them apart from cheaper and less visually pleasing headphone sets. A vibrant palette enhances with a sleek metal construction to offer a sleek and contemporary look. We really like the edgy hexagonal shape that looks great while simultaneously protecting your ears and head by minimising the pressure applied to them. This is coupled with a supple and super-soft memory foam cushions that fit the contours of your ears to both provide a snug fit and reduce noise waste. A neat little addition in the pack includes a blank gunmetal kit which you can use to laser engrave your logo or alter your shield colour. This feature allows you to put your personal stamp on your set, which is a welcome addition considering what vital part headphones play in a DJ’s life.
Big, Bold Beats
The model may be innovatively built and look aesthetically impressive, but does it’s sound quality match up to its appearance? On the whole, yes, it does. A 50mm dual-diaphragm driver offers inner and outer rings that separate the bass from leaking into the high and mid ranges. As a result, you can enjoy a much punchier bass sound, which is then enhanced by the memory phone pads which stop sound escaping. This makes the design brilliantly suited for listening to hip-hop and dance music, where you can really immerse yourself into the rich, pounding bass landscape. Indeed, the driver is much more advanced than you would expect from headphones in this price range, which reflects how V-Moda has really not held back in creating a hefty design with even heftier components.
The Crossfade LP2 headphones are immediately appealing as they can seamlessly take you from the commute, to the gym and off to the club. Their resilient design really shines through here, as they can take a battering from the trials of everyday life while still offering big, bounding bass and beats. Some may be put off by its high price tag, but for the military-grade construction alone, we think these headphones are definitely worth the price.
