DJ Turntables

DJ Turntables bring the ability to play the celebrated vinyl format at different speeds so DJs can beatmatch and mix music. Before the rise of CD Decks and DJ controllers, turntables paved the way for for up-and-coming DJs taking their first steps into a Djing career. The use of vinyl was popular in the Djing community as DJ only promo records, dubplates and limited pressings made sets exclusive giving a unique experience for the crowd. At DJ Tech Direct we stock turntables in their various forms including affordable belt-drive turntables for beginners, to high-performance direct drive turntables built for scratching.

Although CD Decks and DJ controllers are proving popular with the modern DJs, appreciators of vinyls’ analogue warmth, purists, scratch DJs and masters of the craft still use turntables. The legendary Technics 1210 and 1200 has been discontinued and is no more, yet brands including Stanton and Numark are keeping the medium alive.

For scratch DJs the turntable is still essential. Usually using direct drive turntables for their quick response and high torque motor, turntablists such as DJ Premier and Mixmaster Mike still use turntables to this day basing their entire sets around scratch techniques and beat juggling.

Aside from all that you would expect to be included in a turntable package, including the cartridge and stylus, modern turntables often include a built-in soundcard. This audio interface connects via USB to your computer, meaning you can back up your favourite vinyl records and then mix MP3 or Wavs on CD Decks, DJ controllers and software.

Many DJs who enjoy the control that turntables brings yet want to combine laptop Djing utilise DVS and DJ Software. With an audio interface and time coded vinyl included in the package DJs can mix music from their computer or laptop, controlling speed and scratching as you would on a normal record.

At DJ Tech Direct we still love vinyl, turntables and the vinyl format. Whether you’re looking for a complete scratch DJ package or if you’d just like to know how to back up your vinyl you can also contact us or visit our Birmingham DJ store for more information.
