Drum pad controllers will often have a similar layout and feel influenced by classic drum machines such as the Akai MPC. For instance the LPD8 has similar sized pads to the MPC and is also velocity sensitive. They often also include faders and pots which can be assigned to a variety of controls on software meaning you can make accurate attenuations to sounds and controls easily and quickly.
Certain controllers including the Novation Launchcontrol have controls specific to certain software packages such as Ableton. This means features such as Ableton’s colour coded scenes are reflected in the led lit pads for a clearer display.
