Peak
The legendary instrument makers Novation have announced their latest synthesiser. Introducing the eight-voice desktop polysynth called Peak. Get excited.
Bass Station
British engineer Chris Huggett (the brain behind the Bass Station, Supernova and OSCar synths) has been brought on board by Novation to help design Peak. It is a hybrid analogue-digital synthesizer that takes after Novation's pure analogue Bass Station II. The three New Oxford Oscillators for each voice can become a linear FM source using either the analogue-sounding NCOs (Numerically-Controlled Oscillators) or digital wavetables. They are also able to cross-modulate in a recursive loop.
Manipulation & Effects
It features eight voices with oscillators engineered to sound and behave like analogue gear along with 17 digital wavetables. Despite the digital oscillators, a multi-mode analogue filter and three distortion points make for an analogue signal chain. The synth boasts a 16-slot modulation matrix, including three ADSR envelopes and two LFOs for each voice. Peak supports polyphonic aftertouch and also has a really nice creative feature in the two ‘animate’ buttons, designed for one-touch transformation of patches. Finally the chain ends with reverb, delay and chorus effects.
Store as Many Patches as you Want
Another nice feature is you can keep as many patches as you like on your Mac or PC using the Components software. Circuit Components is a suite of free tools for Circuit that provides all you need to expand, tweak and create your own customised instrument.
Peak is due to land in May with a retail price of £1249. Pre Order
